Band

EG: RJ Shodowski!

Keys: Jim Jensen!

Bass: Rick Hill!

Drums: Paul Harkins!

AG: none

Other:

Vocals

Jim, RJ, Jeanette

Songs

1. Prelude- Keep Holding On by Avril Lavigne

Lead: Instrumental

BGVs:

Key: G

Notes: RJ on electric guitar part- nice and full because I won't be able to play the strings. I'll play the melody on keyboard. Not a normal prelude for us, but I wanted something different...and it's not a tough song to learn, so should be good!

2. Three Little Birds by Bob Marley

Lead: Jim/RJ

BGVs: Jeanette

Key: E (new key, make sure you learn the right one!)

Notes: I brought the key down since all three of us vocalists sing best in the lower range. RJ, you and I are going to double the melody on the verses. In the chorus, I'll sing melody. There are two phrases with harmony that we are going to do (there is more harmony, but let's just do these lines really well): "every little thing gonna be all right" Jeanette: stay on E!; RJ: sing A until the "right"- which is a g#. The other phrase is, "this is my message to you-ou-ou" Jeanette: b-b-b-b-b-b-e-c#-b; RJ: g#-g#-g#-g#-g#-g#-b-a-g#. For Band- RJ you need to do that off-the-beat reggae guitar (NOT the riffs). Paul, sounds like mostly hi-hat and toms for you. I'll cover the organ part.

3. Why Worry by Newsong

Lead: Jeanette

BGVs: Jim

Key: A

Notes: OK, there are alot of extra tracks hidden in this song and we simply can't cover them all. But, we can still make the song sound great- RJ you are on acoustic guitar for this tune. You are going to be the main rhythm instrument, so keep strumming throughout and keep it swinging- you are like the acoustic guitar and banjo wrapped into one. I'm going to play accordion and cover the organ parts with that also. Paul and Rick, do your thing! We might all be shouting at the end of the bridge.

4. Giving It All by Michael Gungor

Lead: Jim/Jeanette

BGVs: RJ

Key: B

Notes: RJ, since we don't have acoustic guitar this day, please play the verses with a clean sound, and come in with the distorted patch in the choruses. Everyone sing what they can sing- RJ you and I can double melody. Jeanette, I don't know if you are going to be able to sing melody on the verses because of the range. But I think you can on the choruses. There is a cool harmony in the Bridge.

5. Happy Day by Steve Fee

Lead: Jim/Jeanette

BGVs: RJ

Key: C

Notes: RJ, you play the higher lead guitar. I'm going to cover the lower power chords. The other thing I can't figure out how to cover is the 16th note chunk. It sound like a second bass player. Rick, if you can play something like that just in the first part of the verses that would be cool. Jeanette, if you can stay on melody that would be good. RJ, in the chorus you could sing a third below the melody.

Band

EG: Bing Burris!

Keys: Jim Jensen

Bass: Jim Harper!

Drums: Gary Goodman!

AG: Jack Price!

Other:

Vocals

Marlo, Jim, Bing

Songs

1. Prelude- If I Had a $1,000,000

Lead: Jim/Bing

BGVs:

Key: G

Notes: I thought this would be fun! Bing RU game? I'll sing the first lines, you sing the second lines, and we can make up our own dialogue at the end of the choruses. Everyone just play along, it's not a difficult tune, but keep it light.

2. You Hold It All by Desperation Band

Lead: Jim/Marlo

BGVs:

Key: C (original is in E)

Notes: The parts sound pretty straightforward in this tune to me. Bing, I'd say that generally stay with the lower guitar parts. I can cover the higher riffs on keys. Marlo, this is a new praise tune so we can sing in unison. The chorus might be a little low...if it's a problem let me know and we'll work something out.

3. These Hands by Jeff Deyo

Lead: Jim/Marlo

BGVs:

Key: E

Notes: Marlo, you can sing in the octave up, it's the same range as "salt and light" which works great for you. Sing on the verses and the choruses as it's a praise tune. Band- energy up on this, especially bass and drums. Be sure to follow the chart, we don't do all 7 minutes of the MP3!
